Joe McCormick was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Cherry Hill. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in 1973 and then from St. Louis University School of Law in 1977. He then served a judicial clerkship with the Superior Court of New Jersey in Gloucester County before returning to Camden County to practice law.

He is admitted to the bars of the State of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. McCormick has been active in the Camden County Bar Association, serving as a trustee from 1999 to 2003 and as president in 2008-2009. He was also president of the Camden County Bar Foundation, a charity providing scholarships and other services to the community from 2010 to 2011. Joe previously served as chairman of the Camden County Bar’s Debtor-Creditor Relations Committee from 1986 until 2007.

Joe is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association; the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar; the American Bar Association; the Burlington County Bar Association; and the New Jersey Bankruptcy Trustees Association. He is an approved mediator in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey and a commercial arbitrator for the Superior Court of New Jersey.

In 2009, Mr. McCormick was the recipient of the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award for Camden County by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law.

Joe was counsel in the reported case In re: Alberto, 823 F.2d 712 (3rd Cir. 1987).
Joe has been practicing in the areas of bankruptcy law, real estate law, commercial law, and general litigation for more than 30 years.
